I sat down this morning to my laptop, finding it open on my kitchen table, and looked through un-contact covered eyes blearily to my kitchen: the remnants of egg roll making and a late, late dinner awaited me.
My house smells like Egg Roll King.
(the weird restaurant that my parents love love love to eat at - and thru the years enduringstyrofoam sectioned-dining ware and exclamations from my father that this is "The Spiciest Szechuan Beef I have ever Had!" followed with "And the Best!" I too have grown to like (like - not love) it as well.)
Before I declared at 10:30 p.m. that eggrolls were for 'dinner' (we keep weird eating schedules around here, especially this time of year), my bestie Chadley and I scrolled thru my early evening's work: a round of pictures taken, just as the sun was sinking in the west field behind our house. I felt like I was a bit out of practice - my concentrations have been on creating, and all the things that go along with (vintage shopping, and that's not a chore I mind at all).
Chadley was my first photographer o' Starr Strung - my bestie who has stood like a non-budging rock beside her dreamin', blabbin' about ideas non-stop friend. I used to rush breathless into her office (adjacent mine in the hallway) upstairs at AntiqueWeek and blurt out crazy random thoughts - about jewels, yes. But also, the injustices of the world, how I thought someday I could just work for myself and really, really make it (to which she would always just sit behind her nice big desk and nod, smile her little Meckes smile, and say, "yes, stormy. Of course you can! I will help!")
And even though she had a bajillion other things to do, and dream about herself, she would always tell me: Bring your new jewels over. Let's take pictures. I'll get Miranda too. (another component friend of our Fabulous Five, the one who is so dang drop-dead gorgeous you wonder if God spent more time on her than the rest of us...hee hee) And so, we'd meet in Chadley's living room, complete with her two kids and husband walking around us to get in, out, and to the television, and we'd organize and take pictures and ooooh and aaaaah about how good Miranda looked in the jewelry.
So last night, when we cruised thru my pics, and Chadley says, "Oh Stormy! I love these! These are rad!" I thought...I will share them here.
And even after one cup of coffee (and now, contacts in my eyes, of course - or you'd be reading right now going um....is she typing Arabic?) I like these too. Untouched, un-refined so to speak - but I still like (:
Oh yes, and the jewels are rad too.
....more, later. And all these new pretties plus tons more (my day's work for sure today!) posted online for purchase (:
